1. Who we are
FootGaffer is operated by Scape Software, a trading name of a sole trader based in England. Scape Software is the data controller for the personal data described below, under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Scape Software runs other apps. This policy covers FootGaffer only — it has its own database and its own notification keys, and shares neither with anything else.
2. What data we collect
There are no accounts. We never ask for your name, email address, date of birth, payment details, or your Fantasy Premier League password.
- Your FPL team ID, saved on your own device rather than in an account here. It is sent to our server to look up your squad, which is public information anyone can view with that ID.
- A browser notification subscription, only if you turn alerts on: the endpoint your browser generates, the keys needed to encrypt messages to it, your team ID so alerts can be limited to players you own, and your browser’s user agent.
- Standard server logs — IP address, page requested, time, and browser — kept briefly for security and troubleshooting.
Separately, the Pros & Celebrities page lists public figures — FPL creators, pundits and other well-known players — alongside their score and their team. Everyone on it published their own FPL team ID publicly themselves, and the link to where they did is shown next to them. Nobody is added by guesswork, no league is scraped to find people, and the real name and private league memberships that the game’s API returns for an account are discarded rather than stored.
The mini leagues page shows the other managers in your leagues, with the team and manager names Fantasy Premier League already shows you there. You can only open a league your own saved team is a member of — that is checked on the server against your own entry — so nothing is revealed that you could not already see by logging into the official game. League tables are held in the same short-lived cache as everything else and are never written to the database.
There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. No third-party scripts run on this site, and nothing here follows you elsewhere.
3. How we use your data
Your team ID is used to show you your squad. A notification subscription is used to send the alerts you asked for and nothing else. Logs are used to keep the service running and to spot abuse.
Alerts rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Everything else relies on our legitimate interest in providing the service you asked for. We do not sell your data or share it for marketing.
For the Pros & Celebrities page we rely on our legitimate interest in reporting on public figures in their public capacity, using information they chose to publish. If you are listed and would rather not be, email [email protected] and you will be removed within seven days — no reason needed, and we will not ask for one.
Two others necessarily see something. Fantasy Premier League receives a request for your team ID when you view your squad, and your browser’s push service — Google, Mozilla, Apple or Microsoft — delivers any notification. News headlines are fetched by our server on a schedule rather than by your browser, so those publishers receive nothing about you.
5. Data retention
Anything on your device stays until you clear it. Your squad is cached on the server for a few minutes and then expires. A notification subscription is kept until you turn alerts off, and is deleted automatically as soon as your browser reports it as expired. Logs are kept briefly and then discarded.
We also keep historical player prices, ownership and our own past predictions for up to 400 days. That data is about professional footballers and contains nothing about you.
The server is in Germany, which the UK recognises as providing an adequate level of data protection.
6. Your rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to access your data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to its use, receive it in a portable form, and withdraw consent.
Because there are no accounts, you can do most of this yourself in seconds. Turning alerts off on the My Team page deletes the subscription immediately, and “Use a different ID” on the same page clears the saved team ID from your device. Between them, that is everything.
Otherwise email [email protected] and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
